Jaimie Bell

BIO

Jaimie (she/her) is a member of the Wild Tenders staff and works with the 3-6-year-olds. Her lineage comes out of Ireland, Britain, Scotland, and Germany. After becoming a mother and researching school options, she became inspired by the writings of John Taylor Gatto, John Holt, and Richard Louv, among others. Their respective books show that the current mainstream education system is not in alignment with what we need to thrive and become capable human beings. After seeing the benefits of keeping her children in nature-based homeschool programs, she became passionate about curriculum reform and creating educational communities that promote originality, connection to place, social justice, emotional resiliency and a lifelong love of learning.

Jaimie currently lives as a white settler on Southern Pomo territory. She is a graduate of the WE Immersion program and studied early childhood teaching methods at the Waldorf Institute of Southern California and the Orange County Waldorf School. She has spent the last ten years helping to facilitate forest kindergarten co-ops with fellow homeschooling families. Her other passions include singing, birding, mythology and practicing evolutionary astrology.
